Binge worthy Shows for couples

what to binge watch 2018

Hey, Y'all!

One thing that my husband and I love to do is binge watch a show. Some people think that they are hardcore about their stories but John will literally wake me up in the morning to watch another episode before work. He has a problem He takes binge watching very seriously. So while some couples play tennis and do pottery we watch Netflix. HOWEVER, this has not always been easy as our taste is on two opposite ends of the spectrum (I love Bachelor in Paradise, Disney movies, and anything that breaks into a musical dance number while John is more into John Wick, Fight Club, and South Park).

Sidenote, most of these are more geared toward adults and some of these John will watch before me so I know when to not look... It's just how we make it work!

Let's countdown some couple friendly shows that you will both be ready to binge!

How I like to pretend we look while watching our stories.

How I like to pretend we look while watching our stories.

10. Silicon Valley (HBO)

John started this series before me and after two seasons of him talking about his love for this show, I knew I had to jump on the bandwagon! This comedy series follows the misadventures of introverted computer programmer Richard and his brainy friends as they attempt to strike it rich in the world of startups.

9. Sneaky Pete (Amazon)

We binge watched the heck out of the first season of Sneaky Pete and loved every minute of it! This series is about a conman that finds himself in trouble after leaving jail and having to lead a double life. With high suspense, this show we make you want to keep watching more and more.
The reason this is 9 is that we only made it through season one and found the first episode of season two leaving us a little bored (I still want to go watch it though!).

8. The Staircase (Netflix)

I love true crime mysteries and this one will have you begging for more. This documentary follows around a man on trial for the death of his wife, but did he do it? I would love to get your take on it if you have watched it!

7. Better Call Saul (Netflix)

This is a prequel to Breaking Bad that came out right after the series ended. It takes place six years prior to Saul representing Albuquerque's most notorious criminal (Walter White), Saul Goodman is Jimmy McGill, a small-time attorney hustling to make a name for himself. He's a forceful champion for his low-income clients, an underdog whose morals and ambitions often clash.

Alright, get your stones ready... I do like this show better than Breaking Bad. I was asked by a friend if you could just watch Better Call Saul and I am not sure... I guess you could but I think it helps to have the prior knowledge of the characters to see how they all come together!

6. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (Netflix)

If I told the premise of this show you would probably out. In fact, I do not even know how to describe the premise of this show! From the mind of Tina Fey, this super witty/ quirky comedy will have you singing "Pinot Noir" in no time! The jokes fly through this show so fast that every time I rewatch an episode I catch something brand new. If you are a Tina fan, give this a go!

5. The Good Place (Netflix)

SOME SPOILERS IN TRAILER

This show is family friendly and so funny. We watched both seasons in about a week and a half. Starring Kristin Bell (who you may remember from Forgetting Sarah Marshall or Frozen) and Ted Danson (who you may remember as the lovable bartender from Cheers) the show has tons of twists, turns and is sure it be a light-hearted comedy you will both enjoy.

4. Dexter (Netflix)

SOME SPOILERS IN TRAILER

Gosh... I don't know if I love this show because it was the very first show we binge watched together (with my roomie Ali Chan Chan) or if I just loved it that much! This show follows a serial killer who.... wait for it.... only kills other serial killers! Oh, and did I mention that he works as a blood splatter analyst for the Miami police department? While this show may sound scary it is really more quirky and suspenseful than gory or frightening. The reason it gets to number 4 on my list is that it has some of the worst written/ downright laughable dialogue between characters at times but I still LOVE it!

3. Stranger Things (Netflix)

It's almost Halloween! Which means Stranger Things is the perfect show to binge during this season. When Joyce's 12-year-old son, Will, goes missing, she launches a terrifying investigation into his disappearance with local authorities. As they search for answers, they unravel a series of extraordinary mysteries involving secret government experiments, unnerving supernatural forces, and a very unusual little girl. While I am not one for sci-fi shows this one is worth watch and dripping in 80's nostalgia.

2. Game of Thrones (HBO)

Can you believe that I am on the G.O.T. train? Well, I am! This show is beyond amazing and I would not have given it a second thought had my husband not talked me into it. Here are my disclaimers on watching it:

This show gets very bloody (which is so NOT my thing)... John watched the entire series without me first so when we watched the show together he could tell me when to close my eyes. That is why I don't think I can give it the first place spot since I missed 40% of it hiding being a pillow.

Watch the ENTIRE first season before calling it quits. This show you are meeting a ton of characters, jumping timelines, setting up wars, talking about winter coming... It is a lot of storylines to take in. Give it the full season so you can truly get a grasp on the characters and use this family tree to help you!

1. Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Amazon)

SOME SPOILERS IN TRAILER

If you have not seen this show then stop what you are doing and go watch it! My super hipster brother told us to check it out and it is a crowd pleaser for anyone in the room! The series follows a 1958 housewife that realizes her sense of humor might get her farther than just a chuckle from friends and family. While it does have foul language and the occasional nip slip it is a very witty show you wouldn't feel awkward watching with your mom but prob not the kiddos. Season two is predicted to come out in November!
